The Fife Islamic Funeral Committee provides funeral support to its Muslim members in line with Islamic principles, dignity, and community responsibility. The scheme operates on a non-profit basis for the collective benefit of its members.
The scheme is managed by the Official Running Committee, who are responsible for membership approvals, fund management, and funeral arrangement.
- • Any Muslim aged 18 or over resident of Fife only may apply
- • Membership is subject to:

- ○ Committee approval where applicable
Family Coverage
- • A member's spouse and children under 18 are covered
- • Anyone 18 or over must have their own membership

£10 per person
Ages 21–30
£50 per person
Ages 21–30 (Married)
£100 per family
Ages 30 - 60 (Married or Unmarried)
£100 per family

General Rule
• New memberships are not normally accepted from age 60+
Exceptional Acceptance (At Committee Discretion)
Applicants aged 60+ may be accepted under these conditions:
- • £300 per year for 10 years
- • After 10 years: £100 per year
- • If death occurs within the first 10 years:
- ○ The Committee will pay only the total amount contributed by the related member
- ○ No additional funeral benefit applies
- • The Committee does not accept applications from individuals who knowingly apply while terminally ill or suffering from a life-limiting condition.
- • By applying, members confirm they are not aware of such a condition at the time of application.
- • The Committee does not request medical records, but may decline or void membership if this declaration is found to be false.
- • This rule applies to all applicants, regardless of age.
- • Annual contributions range from £10 to £300, depending on age and eligibility, and are reviewed by the Committee.
- • Must be paid in January each year
- • Subscriptions are non-refundable
- • In exceptional circumstances, members may be asked for a voluntary additional donation
The Committee will cover reasonable UK funeral costs, including:
- • Coffin
- • Grave
- • Hearse (transportation)
- • Essential burial expenses
Khatam Support
• Maximum £750 for one khatam
Pakistan or Any Country Outside the UK
- • If a member passes away and is buried outside the UK:
- ○ The Committee will provide maximum £3,000
- ○ This is the full and final contribution
- ○ No additional payments will be made
Burial Outside the United Kingdom
If a member passes away and the family chooses for the body to be taken to any country outside the United Kingdom, the Committee will provide funeral support of up to a maximum of £3,000 only.
This amount represents the full and final contribution towards all funeral-related and transportation costs in such cases.
Any costs above £3,000 must be met privately by the family.

- • Costs beyond approved limits
- • Expenses outside approved burial locations
Any extra costs must be met privately by the family.
- • Any matters not covered here will be decided by the Official Running Committee
- • Decisions are made based on:
- ○ Fairness
- ○ Sustainability of the fund
- ○ Islamic principles
- • Committee decisions are final, though reviews may be considered at their discretion
- • The Committee reviews and may update the Terms & Conditions of the scheme on an annual basis to ensure fairness, sustainability, and compliance.
- • Updated Terms & Conditions will apply to each membership year.
Application of Updated Terms
Membership is renewed annually.
By renewing their annual contribution, members confirm their acceptance of the Terms & Conditions in force for that membership year, regardless of the terms that applied at the time they originally joined.
Notification of Changes
Members will be informed of any material changes to the Terms & Conditions before the start of the new membership year.
Lapsed Membership
Members who do not accept updated Terms & Conditions or do not renew their annual contribution will be considered inactive, and funeral support will not apply during periods of inactive membership.
Acceptance of Terms
By registering for membership with the Fife Islamic Funeral Committee, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these terms and conditions. Your membership represents a commitment to our community values and Islamic principles.
